Less Evil, More Dead?
| groovy |
Horror movies; what better way to unplug from reality than to scare yourself shitless from the safety of your nest? I'll never understand people that can't enjoy the thrill of good horror, I feel like slapping them across the face and telling them to lighten the fuck up. It's a movie, you'll be fine love. They're the same types that refuse to ride roller coasters, and frankly, those people can GTFO.

Buzz suggests Fede Alvarez' Evil Dead remake is the scariest movie of 2013, or as the marketing would have you believe, 'the most terrifying film you will ever experience'. But in this era of torture-porn OMG-LOUD-NOISES jump scares, what exactly is considered scary? Judging by the popular redband trailer the movie is gratuitously gory, perhaps not such a bad thing considering the bloodshed of Raimi's originals (the third in the series 'Army of Darkness', not so much). But reliance on gore to shock the audience into submission is in stark contrast to the psychological terror that is so effective classics like The Shining, The Exorcist, and of course the original Evil Dead.
